SCA Signs MoU With American University of Sharjah

 

Agreement to Boost Bilateral Cooperation in Institutional Development, Scientific Research, Human Resources and Administrative Development

The Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) and American University of Sharjah (AUS) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), to boost bilateral cooperation in various areas, including professional advice, institutional support and development, scientific research, human resources and administrative development and training.


His Excellency Abdullah Al-Turifi, Chief Executive Officer, SCA, signed the agreement with Dr. Peter Heath, Chancellor of AUS , at a ceremony held at the AUS campus.


In a statement after the signing ceremony, Al-Turifi said that this was very important partnership for both institutions. He said that according to the agreement, the SCA will offer internship and summer training programs to AUS students, and facilitate scientific research and field studies for AUS faculty and students in areas related to SCA activities.


Al-Turifi stated that SCA has an annual training and orientation program which is part of its mandate to cater to the nation's human capital with the aim of improving and developing the performance of UAE nationalsto enable them to discharge their duties with added confidence and competence, as well as to achieve the SCA's vision and mission and its targeted strategic objectives. He added that the SCA's strategic policy aims at building strategic partnerships that would contribute in boosting the SCA's competitiveness.


Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Heath said that AUS was looking forward this mutual cooperation between the two institutions and strongly believed that this partnership will prove very fruitful.


He underscored the significance of the agreement, which he said was a step forward in boosting partnership between AUS and a number of local and federal institutions.


According to the MoU, the two sides will cooperate in a number of areas, including areas of institutional support and development, in general, and administrative and human resources development, in particular. They will also collaborate in organising conferences, workshops, forums and training programs which will feature and discuss the latest developments and best practices in areas of mutual interest. They will also collaborate in joint programs and projects which will enhance and improve the policies and objectives of the two partners.


AUS will, among other things, contribute in developing SCA's human resources by providing training programs and professional advice as a contribution to the SCA's efforts to improve the professional skills of its staff and boost its march towards achieving excellence in administrative, financial and leadership practices. AUS will also provide SCA staff the opportunity to benefit from and participate in AUS-organized activities and conferences and benefit from AUS facilities, within the confines of the AUS rules and regulations.

The SCA, on the other hand, will provide training opportunities related to SCA activities and operations to AUS students, in the form of summer internships. It will also facilitate scientific research and field studies for members of the AUS faculty and students in areas related to SCA activities.


The agreement also states that AUS will nominate its students interested in joining SCA's SHARE (Supporting Human Assets for Real Emiratization) program or working for the latter. Selection of candidates for the SHARE program is based on the condition that candidates have successfully passed the qualifying exams and other SCA rules and regulations. AUS will also nominate its final year students for the SCA-sponsorship program called "Baraem".
