Speech of Dr. Obeid Saif Al Zaabi
Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Securities and Commodities Authority
On the Occasion of the Martyr's Day
The United Arab Emirates marks the Martyr's Day on November 30, which has become a great national occasion every year, in which we remember the martyrs of the homeland who have responded to the call of duty. We recollect their heroism, sacrifice, devotion and loyalty to their country and our astute leadership.
The Martyr's Day is a day in which the UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, honors its heroes and loyal sons who have placed their lives at risk and sacrificed such lives in defense of the homeland territories.
It is undoubtedly a day in which we commemorate the sacrifices and giving by the martyrs of the homeland and its dutiful sons. It is a day of attestation of the national cohesion and unity embodied in the highest connotations and lovely image among all the sons of the nation.
The support and care that our leadership has never failed to provide to the families of the martyrs, and the initiatives of generosity and kindness by the State leadership towards the martyrs' families, make us observe a rare epic picture in which the feelings of loyalty, affiliation, pride, tenderness, sacrifice, belonging to the nation and its astute leadership are combined; and is a clear proof of the unity, authenticity, solid structure and high and proud society of the UAE.
The mothers of the martyrs have given the most beautiful examples of patience and endurance and have presented a model before which bow in respect when they expressed their pride and superiority in seeing their sons on the rally of the martyrs. They also expressed their desire to push their other sons to the arena of honor to complete the glorious journey that their brothers have embarked on to defend the values of truth, justice and triumph of principles.
Our martyrs - who did not fear death - are sources of light for the march of glory and are alive at their Lord's mercy. They have instilled the flags of hope and dispersed the tunes of pride and dignity; they gathered glory and immortality and raised the nation's status to lofty heights up to the high skies.
May Allah have mercy on our righteous martyrs who have sacrificed themselves and souls, and registered their names with letters of light in the record of honor and history; and He Almighty may keep them in His Heavens. We extend our salute of respect and appreciation to the families of our dutiful martyrs whose sacrifices will remain a guide and lighthouse for coming generations forever.
