"The SCA organizes an awareness workshop on the governance of public joint- stock companies. 

The SCA organized a workshop entitled "Governance of the Public Joint Stock Companies" at the SCA building, Dubai, attended by about 130 representatives of listed public joint-stock companies concerned with the Chairman of SCA Board of Directors' Decision No. (7 R.M) of 2016 Concerning the Standards of Institutional Discipline and Governance of Public Shareholding Companies. The attendance was distributed over three days during the period from 15- 17 December.

The workshop comes under the scope of the SCA efforts to deepen the concept of governance with companies listed in the financial markets and raise awareness of the developments in governance included in the new decision to be issued at the beginning of the new year. The decision was prepared according to the international best practices including the provisions of integrated reports, gender balance, sustainability and social responsibility (ESG).

The workshop, which lasted three days in the presence of Mrs. Maryam Ahly, Director of the Market Supervision Department, covered the importance of governance principles and defined its objects. It presented the most important updates in the corporate governance report for 2019, which the listed public joint- stock companies are preparing to develop and submit to the SCA during 2020.

The workshop, presented by M/s. Muhammad Junaid, Ahmed Al- Naqbi and Osama Hamdi from the Corporate Governance Department And Auditors of the SCA, concluded with discussions and proposals from representatives of the listed public joint-stock companies that contributed to enriching the application of the governance concept based on practical experiences and actual expertise in the financial market.
