SCA Approves Listing and Trading Rights Issues to Raise Capital of United Insurance Company

The Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) approved listing and trading rights issues to raise capital of United Insurance Company PSC through the issuance of 50 million new shares (worth 50 million rights issues) on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX). Trading these rights beings on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 up until Sunday, December 01, 2015 which is the last day for trading such rights.

This approval comes in implementation of the SCA Board Decision No. (38) of 2013 concerningthe Trading of Rights Issues for Capital Increase Shares.

This SCA-issued approval is the fourth of its kind after having approved listing and trading rights issues to increase the capitalof: Eshraq Properties PSC, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), and Takaful Emarat.

This mechanism is common in global financial markets and is characterized by its positive implications on increasing trading and protecting the rights of shareholders and concerned parties. It also permits shareholders, who do not wish to subscribe to the new shares, to sell their rights to other investors in securities markets, thus maintaining their rights and making use of them even when they do not wish to subscribe as the ones with the right to raise capital by law.
