The Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Zayed University (ZU). The MoU is part of the two sides' commitment to boost avenues of joint action between them and to tap the available experience and capacities in light of their areas of specialization.
H.E. Abdullah Al-Turifi, SCA Chief Executive Officer, signed the MoU for his side, while Dr. Suleiman Al-Jasim, ZU Director, also signed for his outfit.
According to the MoU, the two sides shall cooperate in the areas of professional advice and institutional support and development, in general, and in the area of human resources, administrative and social development, in particular. It also covers joint cooperation in the organizing of conferences, specialized workshops and forums, training programs in the latest developments and best practices in areas of mutual interest. The two sides shall also share facilities for executing of joint programs and projects which promote their policies and objectives.
In a statement after signing the agreement, Al-Turifi underscored the SCA's commitment to boost the existing relations of strategic partnership with the ZU – being one of the leading academic and training institutions in the country – in accordance with an effective framework and institutional regulation. "The MoU will further boost relations between the two sides in the interest of all segments of the society, in line with the directives of the SCA board of directors, headed by H.E. Engineer Sultan bin Saeed Al-Mansoori, Minister of Economy", he said, adding that the MoU will also contribute in boosting and developing the SCA's human resources through the provision of professional training and consultation programs, while on the other hand, it will open up training opportunity for ZU students who intend to work in the securities industry sector in the future, as well as opportunity for ZU researchers to benefit from the information resources at the SCA.
For his side, Dr. Al-Jasim said the agreement will allow the University's Social Services Institute to provide for the SCA professional advice, scientific and practical training programs to further develop the SCA's administrative and human resources, in a way that will reflect positively on the SCA's organizational support and development, adding that the MoU is part of the University's strategy and operation philosophy which aim at providing the latest technical and educational programs through its various specialization centers.
He reiterated his outfit's commitment to promote excellence and quality assurance and underscored the importance of social partnership which, he noted, is a major component of the University's mission, under the guidance and support of H.E. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al-Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and ZU Chancellor, whose directives has set a high benchmark in standards of all programs, curricula and educational services for institutions and agencies as embodied in the role of the University in social service.
He praised the SCA for its great efforts in developing its administration and in improving the professional performance of its human resources to achieve excellence in all its administrative, financial and leadership practices.
