The SCATC Board of Trustees discusses development of the Continuous Professional Development Program

The Board of Trustees of the SCA Training Centre (SCATC) held a meeting headed by Dr. Obaid Al Zaabi, Acting CEO of the SCA, and discussed the major developments at the level of the professional qualification programs and training of staff of the securities markets. During the meeting, the content of the program introduced by the SCA to obtain the certificate of Arbitration in Securities was approved as several new components were added, including an introduction to the law and the companies’ law, among other components which contribute in enriching the academic content of the program.

Following the meeting, Dr. Obaid Al Zaabi stated that the SCATC was approved by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) as a regional training centre. He noted that the aspects related to the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) program introduced recently were discussed, as new administrative, legislative, and procedural features will be added to launch the new edition of the electronic system of CPD soon. On the other hand, the results of individual commitment to participate in the program were reviewed and a note was made to adhere with the program requirements to avoid enforcing of the regulation of penalties in the SCA, and determining the annual cycle of the program in a manner to contribute to organizing the individual commitment to participate all year. A decision was made to honor the individuals and companies committed to the CPD program in the brokers honoring ceremony next year.

H.E. indicated that during the meeting a statistical questionnaire was reviewed about the rate of passing the Professional Qualification Examinations Program and the referral to initiatives that contribute in the development of the curriculum of the Professional Licensing Program. During the meeting, the exam courses for the new professions approved by the SCA were approved.
