SCA’s digital initiatives aim to improve the investment environment and the services offered to customers and to spread financial awareness

H.E. Eng. Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Board of the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA), made a visit to SCA’s pavilion at Gitex where H.E. Dr. Obaid Al Zaabi, CEO of SCA, talked about SCA’s projects and smart initiatives specifically tailored for customers and companies falling under SCA’s supervision on the first day of the 39th Gitex Technology Week 2019. H.E. Al Mansoori praised the initiatives, saying that they help improve market performance and facilitate the provision of services, and offered suggestions to achieve further development and reach a wide variety of customers.

“SCA’s participation in Gitex this year reflects its role in taking the initiative to develop its digital infrastructure to keep pace with the developments and changes in financial markets,” Dr. Al Zaabi said. “SCA is showcasing an improved version of its redesigned website, a website that uses sophisticated technology to ensure that its viewers, customers and investors alike, find what they are looking for with ease and speed,” he added. In its newly-designed version, SCA announces a new initiative aimed at promoting corporate governance and targeting boards of listed companies, governance officials, and interested parties. It also announced the development of a number of new applications and systems.

As part of its participation at Gitex, SCA showcased its newest applications and smart projects that aim to enhance the attractiveness of the business environment to investors and customers alike and to reach and identify the needs of a wider public, thus improving the government services offered and enabling customers to access all services with ease and speed.

Among the applications announced at Gitex, SCA showcased an application called Al Majlis, which combines aspects related to awareness, education, continuous learning, and corporate governance under one platform. The application enables the public to access all educational materials released by SCA in an effort to complement the National Investor Awareness and Financial Inclusion Project.

SCA’s website, redesigned recently to keep pace with the government’s requirements and standards, enables the public to easily access information and process transactions. SCA’s smart application, on the other hand, enables investors, customers, and employees to do their business using their smart phones. SCA also developed a system using artificial intelligence. The system receives queries and requests for legal advice from customers and provides answers using SCA’s legislative database.

SCA also displayed a system used by the Licensing Department and developed by OpenText. The system is designed to organize the department’s day-to-day functions and operations and to make it easier for customers to submit requests. It links SCA with its strategic partners and a number of relevant authorities.
